On this video, Colette Grand took part, with a collective of more or less 20 musicians, to an original cover of the Lou Reed classic song "Take a Walk On A Wild Side" called here "Cropettes Wild Side". "Cropettes" is a neighbourhood and a park located in the center of Geneva where a lot of artists live.

Happy Birthday Mr Ornette Coleman !

Today is the 80th birthday of one of the musical contemporary geniuses : Mr Ornette Coleman ! 
I paid my tribute to Ornette with one of the photos I took to him during a session we had the 26th of January 2007 in New-York City.

L'Ecole Internationale de Genève (http://www.ecolint.ch) m'a engagé en décembre 2008 pour couvrir la soirée de gala de son 100ème anniversaire.

Phil Collins (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Collins), ex membre du légendaire groupe Genesis (http://www.genesis-music.com/) , a ponctué la soirée par un splendide show dont il a le secret.

Phil Collins est un jazzfan et il ne manqua pas de s'accompagner des splendides musiciens de jazz que sont la chanteuse Séverine Vaena - http://www.myspace.com/severinevaena (ici dirigeant le choeur d'enfants) et le saxophoniste Stefano Saccon (http://www.myspace.com/stefanosaccon).

Il était aussi accompagné d'un choeur d'élèves de l'Ecole Internationale.

Le public put assister non seulement à un show pro jusqu'au bout des ongles mais aussi à de grands moments de complicité entre Phil et les enfants.

Un CD a été tiré de cette soirée. Les fans de Phil Collins seront déçus car il n'est pas commercialisé car il est destiné uniquement aux élèves et parents d'élèves de l'Ecole Internationale de Genève. Je suis très néanmois très content d'en avoir un exemplaire car Phil Collins était en grande forme et l'enregistrement est de qualité.

Le design du CD est de Stan Breynaert et je me permets de faire un peu de publicité à une boîte de production consacrée à la musique reggae qu'il vient de lancer. C'est de la qualité ! Voici le site de sa boîte de production Kinyama Sounds : http://www.kinyamasounds.com/

Malgré le fait que Phil Collins arrête la scène (il a malheureusement perdu toute sensibilité au niveau des doigts en raison d'une opération suite à une luxation des vertèbres) il devrait sortir,d'après ses déclarations récentes dans un journal allemand, un nouvel album studio cette année.

Cet album sera constitué de reprises du label Motown  (http://classic.motown.com/). 30 chansons y figureront et selon Phil Collins, la production a réussi à trouver le fameux son de la Motown.

Etait-ce le dernier show de Phil Collins ?
